Dit boek heeft mij een aantal dagen heerlijk in de ban gehouden en wil ik graag met jullie delen. Al eerder las ik boeken van Tracy Chevalier en het blijft verbazend hoe zij in staat is je als lezer echt in het boek te trekken zodat het voelt alsof je er echt bij bent. Al haar boeken gaan over een historische gebeurtenis en daar omheen wordt dan een verhaal gebreid.
Dit boek speelt in de vorige eeuw in Lime Regis. Een deel van de zuidkust in Engeland (Devon) waar veel fossielen werden en worden gevonden. Wat het extra leuk maakt is dat wij daar vorig jaar op vakantie waren en ik zag ze dus echt lopen voor mijn ogen, daar op dat strand! Voor de beschrijving van het verhaal verwijs ik je naar het engelse deel van de tekst. Het boek is helaas nog niet in het Nederlands verschenen.
One of the things I really wanted to share with you is this book. I read a few books of the same author and I just love how she is able to capture the reader so you feel pulled into the story completely. You just feel to be at the place and time of action. This one is situated in Lime Regis, just the place where we were on holiday last year. So I could really visualize the book!

Welnee... David is net zo'n spelletjes fan als zijn grote zus, dus kon een spelletje op zijn verjaardag niet ontbreken. Je moet één voor één de balletjes uit de toren duwen zonder dat de toren omvalt. Het is erg leuk en een stuk moeilijker dan ik had verwacht!
Oh no... David is a big fan of games, just like his big sister, so I had to give him a game for his birthday! You have to push those balls inwards one at a time without the tower falling down. It is fun and a lot harder then I thought it would be.
